As cold as it is in so many parts of the US right now, a romantic getaway in the warmth and sunshine of San Diego sounds terrific. The weather is almost always perfect in Southern California, of course, and San Diego has an incredible variety of vacation activities (romantic and otherwise) to make a trip there memorable. Just in time for Valentine's Day, several downtown San Diego-area luxury hotels are offering vacation deals and packages. Any one of these should entice a romantic couple to spend a weekend getaway in warm, lovely San Diego.
The Bristol Hotel's "I'm in the Mood for Love" hotel package is actually available all year, but it's likely most popular around Valentine's Day travel. The Bristol Hotel in in downtown San Diego, providing quick and easy access to all parts of the city. "I'm in the Mood for Love" includes a night in a deluxe king room, bottle of sparkling wine, long-stemmed red roses, a full American breakfast for two, and, a Kama Sutra Weekender Kit! This romantic night is currently quite a deal at $174 plus tax.
The Pearl Hotel is an architecturally interesting mid-century hotel a few minutes from downtown San Diego. Its romantic hotel package is the "Valentine's Day" package, fittingly, and is only available between February 12 and February 14 this year. A one-night stay for two in a high-end Jewel Room, and dinner for two at the hotel restaurant, The Restaurant, are the basics of the package. Add-ons include chocolate covered strawberries, a split or full bottle of Veuve champagne, and rose petals en suite. Rates start at $229 plus tax.
Se San Diego is a luxury hotel around a block away from San Diego's famous Gaslamp District. The "Seduce Package" at Se San Diego is good through December 31, and includes a one-night stay for two, strawberries and chocolate mousse upon checking in, breakfast in bed, late checkout, complimentary valet parking, and $150 credits at both the Suite and Tender restaurant and Se Spa. Rates start at $500 plus tax.
The US Grant is also right in downtown San Diego, and is part of the exclusive Starwood Luxury Collection family of high-end properties. The US Grant's pampering romantic package is valid weekends February 10 through April 30, 2011. This "Cheek-to-Cheek" hotel package deal includes a night in the swanky Legacy Suite, a one-hour private ballroom dancing lesson at Champion Ballroom Academy, and private transportation to and from the dance studio. Rates start at $355 plus tax.
Other luxury hotels near San Diego also have romantic packages for the season. the Hotel del Coronado's "Night of Romance" package, for example, is available year-round starting at $460 plus tax with ad-ons available, and La Jolla Cove Suites has a Valentine's Day February-only romantic package that includes wine and chocolates. The hotels that are in downtown San Diego, though, ensure that the loving couple will have excuses to come outside and get some fresh air during the weekend.
