Hollywood and Vine has been famous for decades. What comes to mind when you think of that address? If you've never been there, or it's been years since your last visit, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The Hollywood and Vine area of downtown Hollywood, California has undergone a renaissance of sorts in recent years, been cleaned up, and is now a hip, happening center for nightlife and tourism. The W Hollywood opened just a year ago (January 2010, to be exact) and fits in perfectly with the neighborhood's lively culture.
W Hollywood Destination Details
The W Hollywood, like other W hotels in cosmopolitan, upscale cities of the world, offers its guests a chance to experience the lively lifestyle of Hollywood denizens and visitors, with the pampering and high-end treatment of one of the best luxury hotels in the city as well. The W Hollywood is right across the street from the famous landmark Pantages Theater, and the two have joined forces to offer guests an exclusive vacation package.
This part of Hollywood is also right where the Oscars are presented, in the Kodak Theater down Hollywood Boulevard from the hotel, and other iconic Hollywood theaters like El Capitan, Grouman's Chinese and Egyptian Theaters are here as well. Sunset Strip, House of Blues, the Hollywood Bowl, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Capital Records, CNN, Quincy Jones Music, and Paramount Studios are among the many nearby entertainment attractions. And, of course the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with stars in the sidewalk, is right outside the doors of the W Hollywood.
Guest Rooms and Suites at the W Hollywood
There are 305 rooms and suites at this hotel, each impeccably modern with up-to-the-minute amenities and entertainment services. The room options span an array from the simplest "Wonderful Room" (400 square feet) to the "Extreme Wow Suite" (1,660 square feet).
Dining at the W Hollywood
Station Hollywood hosts private parties in a comfortable, open space. The waitstaff is extremely friendly and the hors d'oeuvres fantastic. As hip as the neighborhood, Station Hollywood 's outdoor courtyard is also open to anyone of legal drinking age (private parties may be cordoned off from the larger area).
The Living Room is a comfortable, casual, but very glamorous lobby lounge area. The late night bar is a popular hang out in Hollywood, and the W Signature cocktail list and bar service is diverse enough to keep everyone in a happy mood. A fire pit connects The Living Room to The Station.
Drai's Hollywood is a steakhouse of sorts; there is none of the stuffiness normally associated with high-end steakhouses here, though. It's got the fancy-casual atmosphere that is familiar to upscale eateries in Los Angeles down to a tee. This is the trendiest of the dining options at W Hollywood, so prepare to be checked out as you check out other guests.
Delphine Brasserie is the signature restaurant of the W Hollywood hotel. The light blues and whites are distinctively French, as is the cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Delphine Brasserie is a peaceful respite from the lively scene that marks the other restaurant options both in and outside of the W Hollywood.
Travel planners considering a vacation in Los Angeles, and who are interested in staying in the heart of Hollywood, would have a great time at the new W Hollywood. Its location can't be beat for easy access to the lively nightlife scene, and the hotel itself is classy and luxurious.
